Holozon Boxes are delivery packages dropped by boss-type enemies.
Mechanics
Holozon Boxes contain either one or three products, which can be new weapons or items or upgrades to these, as well as a random amount of HoloCoins. There is a 5% chance for a Holozon Box to be a super box, containing one super item (this will be signified by a special animation), and a 9% chance to be a triple box containing three items.
Players can choose whether to accept the item(s) inside, or drop them. There is also a chance that Holozon Boxes will drop 100 HoloCoins instead of an item. This chance increases the more fully upgraded weapons and items the player has.
Reward generation
The reward is generated via the following procedure.
- Normal box:
- There is a 7/10 chance for the reward to be a weapon and 3/10 chance for an item.
- If the player cannot be offered a weapon (no available slots and fully leveled), the reward will be replaced by an item.
- If the player cannot be offered an item, the game will attempt to roll again for a weapon, up to 5 times.
- If the previous attempt fails (or both options are simply unavailable), the player will be rewarded additional HoloCoins instead.
Once the type is determined, the reward will be chosen from a list of available options, in the same way as during a level up. The only difference is that there is only a 1/10 chance that a new item/weapon is offered.
- Super box:
The game will list all super items available to the player and select one at random. Each item has equal chance to be selected.
If no super items can be offered to the player, the box will be treated as a normal box.
- Triple box:
The triple boxes function almost identically to a normal box. However, the second box cannot offer new equipment if the player only has one inventory slot available for that type, and the third cannot offer new equipment unless more than two slots are available in that category.
For example, if you have 5 items and 4 weapons in your inventory prior to opening the box, the second box can offer either a new or owned weapon, but only equipped items, and the third can only reward an already owned weapon or item.
HoloCoins
The amount of HoloCoins rewarded without any coin multipliers ranges from 72 to 130 for normal boxes, from 126 to 252 for triple boxes and from 158 to 332 for super boxes. The amount of HoloCoins rewarded is affected by the
Money Gain Up shop upgrade and the stage coin multiplier, but not by
Super Chatto Time!.
Overall, the amount of HoloCoins rewarded and how it is affected by coin multipliers is determined by the following formula:
[Toggle display]
boxCoinGain = floor( floor(a/(3 + irandom(2))) * (1 + moneyUpBonus/100%) * stageMultiplier * (1 + b * (20 + irandom(10))/100 * (1 + moneyUpBonus/100%) * stageMultiplier) )
where moneyUpBonus is the percentage bonus from Money Gain Up , stageMultiplier the stage's coin multiplier and a and b are variables depending on the type of the box:

Trivia
- The BGM that plays when opening a Holozon Box is a chiptune remix of the 2010 Vocaloid song Ochame Kinou. The song MV is the first one to feature all members of Hololive Japan at the time (albeit not everyone was singing).[1] It later became an unofficial theme song of Hololive as future generations would create their own versions. It's also known as Fukkireta although this refers to the MV format which includes the song and the specific side to side swaying.
