HoloCure Wiki is maintained by the users. This is a collection of tips and guidelines to get you started on editing the wiki.

About wikis

  • A wiki is designed to allow every user to edit its content. If you see something you think could be improved about the HoloCure Wiki, improve it! Just click the "edit" tab at the top of most pages to edit their contents. You may have to sign up and/or log in before you'll see the "edit" tab - but it's free and takes under a minute to do so.
  • Don't be afraid to edit. Part of the wiki system is an integrated version tracking system, so there's never a fear of losing something. If you make a mistake, you or someone else can easily fix it - so take the initiative and make a change if you think it's useful.

How can I contribute?

Here are some concrete examples on how to help with little effort:

  • Fix incorrect descriptions, typos/grammar.
  • Add information on how weapons/skills/items function or interact with each other and tips on how to use them.
  • Upload images of gameplay relevant to the subject to flesh out the article.
  • Add trivia pertaining to the subject of the article.

Datamining

Datamining means accessing the game files directly to obtain information, such as weapon/ability stats and more detailed mechanics, or resources, such as game icons. It is not necessary to know how to access the game files to provide useful information to the wiki, but if you are interested, follow the instructions in these posts to get you started:

  1. Obtaining game icons
  2. Obtaining enemy stats (outdated for version 0.6 and above)

Editing

Here's a quick checklist on things you should do before editing/submitting your edit:

  • Make sure you are on the latest game version. All information on the wiki should pertain to the current version, except for dedicated sections. See Getting started guide for instructions on how to update the game.
  • It is recommended to familiarize yourself with the style guide for general guidelines and practices.
  • Click on the "show preview" button to see how your changes look on the page before submitting to avoid unnecesary edits to possible minor mistakes.
    • Check for any typos/grammar and if the wikitext syntax works properly (if using source mode).
  • Add a summary to your edit, so others can easily see what you have changed.

If you are unsure on how to do something, refer to the Helpful links section at the bottom.

Images

The wiki has certain conventions regarding the naming and sizing in-game images, that should be followed, as they are relevant for the functionality of certain templates, as well as to make it easier to search for them. See our style guide before uploading.

For detailed instructions on how to create and upload in-game sprites in high quality, see this Sprite Creation Guide by Arkainn.

Templates

Templates are generally used on this wiki to display information in a preformatted manner. It is not required for new editors to know how to edit or create them, but it would be good to know how to use them. Some templates are used to simply display a text for example in form of notices, while others format information from given parameters.

  • To call a template type {{template_name}} in the (source) editor.
  • To give the template parameters they must be separated with a pipe character, "|".
    • If the template uses named parameters, the parameter must be input as: {{template_name |param1 = value1 |param2 = value2 |...}}.
    • If the parameters are taken based on the order, only the value needs to be input: {{template_name |value1 |value2 |...}}.
    • Whitespaces and newlines at the start and end are not counted, so it is recommended to use some spacing to make it more pleasant to read.

These are some more commonly used templates on this wiki:

  • Infobox templates - Infoboxes are used for presenting information about the subject in a concise way in the top-rigth corner of the page.
  • Notice templates - Notice templates are used to display a message at the top of the page containing important information about the article.
  • Skillbox templates - Skillbox templates are used to format weapon and ability details on weapon and character pages.
  • Navbox templates - Navigation boxes can be found at the bottom of the page to provide links to other pages in the same category.
  • {{ImageLink}} or {{il}} - generates a link to another page on the wiki with an icon.
  • {{HoloWiki}} - shorthand for linking to a page on Hololive Fan Wiki.
  • {{Textcolor}} or {{tc}} - creates colored text with in-game colors.
  • {{Cite web}} - useful template for formatting references.

Instructions on how to use each template can be found on the template's page (search "template:template_name" or browse Category:Templates for all existing templates).

Cargo

Some information on weapon and character pages is not directly editable, as we use Cargo extension to store the data. This allows the information to be displayed the same across multiple pages without having to edit every single one of them separately. The data is stored on character, item and weapon pages using infobox or skillbox templates, and any edits made to these templates parameters will be reflected to any page that query the database.

See Category:Cargo templates for a list of templates that use cargo.
